Hot and Sexy in a Caffeinated Sort of Way

I cannot possibly start the day without a cup of coffee, preferably two cups. There’s nothing better on a cold morning than a steamy cup of java, or as I like to call it “liquid nectar of the gods.” My husband puts a pot on for me so that it’s nicely brewed and waiting when I make my entrance into the kitchen. Ah, heaven in both aroma and taste! Fortunately, I can enjoy my coffee at home most days, but for those occasions – my son’s early morning soccer tournament, for example – when I need to be out the door early, there’s the Marilyn tumbler. It keeps my coffee hot and prevents me, the klutz that I am, from spilling scalding liquid all over myself. Plus, it’s curvy in its own sexy way like Marilyn Monroe, which makes me chuckle each time I take a sip. But my favorite part about Marilyn is that she doesn’t hold a mere 12 ounces of java or even just 16 ounces, but a whopping 18 ounces of the piping hot beverage of my choosing. Which means that I have the energy I need to get through my morning. And that is why I simply love my Marilyn.

My Hat's Off to the Beanie

As a kid, it was ridiculously uncool to be caught dead in a hat of any kind, except for when you were either playing Little League or going out in blizzard-like conditions. In fact, the only time I’d don a hat was to go build snow forts or prepare for snowball fights, and only under the threats of punishment from my mother. Once she went back inside, the hot, woolen mess on my head was pulled off and thrown behind a bush. My, how things have changed! Today, hats are all the rage. Even the players on my son’s soccer team wear these promotional items on the field. The kids opt for the knit beanie with stripe, because it can be customized with the team’s colors. You can do the same for your team, group, or event. I bet the recipients will wear those beanies to promote your message. And while we are on the subject of how hats got so popular and so couture, since when did hats start being called “beanies”? Perhaps that is why the lowly hat has become such an icon of style -- because it’s no longer referred to as simply a hat. It’s gotten a massive overhaul as the beanie.

I'm Not Jaded, Just Shaded

I must share a great find with you. Why? Because I simply love it! I have several baseball caps because I am a diehard baseball fan and frankly, I find baseball caps to be all-American, casual, and most people look good in them. However, my new exciting headwear find is the cotton twill visor – embroidered. I like this visor for several reasons: it’s comfortable, it comes with an adjustable strap, it shades my eyes from the sun, and is lightweight enough that my head doesn’t feel sweaty even in the warmest temperatures. My husband gave me one of these recently, and I wear it with pleasure. I really do like the visor, but also because the headwear boasts his employer’s name. I’m only too pleased to market my husband’s employer since that company pays him a decent salary and provides us medical benefits, which in turn, enables us to pay our bills and go to the doctor when we are sick. I’m all about supporting the hand that feeds me, so to speak! You should do the same. And in the meantime, trust me when I say that you need one of these visors.

It's Time to Celebrate!

It’s hard to think about the month of December without imagining great parties, get-togethers, and tons of food and beverages. This is usually the time of year when companies throw celebratory dinners to thank employees for their service throughout the past 12 months. Clients and customers are often invited as well, as a special thank you for their business. Companies usually have promotional products at these dinners or parties and I’ve got a terrific idea for such: the 13 ½ ounce wine glass set. Not only will your guests have the pleasure of using these glasses during the party, but when it’s over, they have a product that they will use again and again at home. Gimmees can customize the wine glasses for you – add your corporate name to these – and this simple, yet sophisticated giveaway continues to market your business well into the new year. Another great thing about these glasses is that they come in sets of four, so you have options. You can either give them to each of your guests as a set or distribute one glass per person. It’s all up to you!

A Marketing Item that Is Just So Darn Tasty

Who doesn’t love popcorn? I can’t think of anyone! I could be sitting in a movie theater, having just indulged in a humongous dinner out on the town, and one whiff of the popcorn being consumed by some stranger sitting across the aisle, will have me running to the nearest refreshment stand for a huge tub of the fluffy kernels. And yes, you’d better add butter and salt to my batch. Or I might be waltzing down the boardwalk in some seashore resort town in July and I can smell the sweet and salty mingle of caramel popcorn from a mile away. Yum! Since popcorn is such a fun and crunchy treat that just tastes of Americana, I am pointing you to a great idea for your clients: the Gimmees’ 1 Gallon Tin with Caramel Popcorn. It doesn’t matter what business you are in – your clients and customers will love this promo item. It’s a great surprise for the holidays in December or at any other time of the year. We’ll add your logo or corporate name to the tin. You just sit back and look like a million bucks while your clients snack away.

Get a Grip!

You would think that it would take a great deal of effort for someone or something to amaze me. But I still am intrigued and impressed by things that make my life easier, and some of those things come in compact packages. Here’s a perfect example: the grip document stand. I like that I can prop up a recipe while I’m baking (how much vanilla does the batch of cookies need?), leave a note for my husband (dinner is in the fridge, honey), or stick a reminder in my bathroom (wash your hands AFTER you flush!). Of course, the grip document stand also is great for the office, whether at home or at your place of business. Once again, this is a promo product that not only adds convenience in just a small space, but is inexpensive and can be easily imprinted with your logo, Web address, or corporate brand. If you plan on leaving me a message, make sure you use this little stand to prop up your note, because I might not see it otherwise. My kitchen table is buried in newspapers, junk mail, the kids’ homework, and every other paper known to man, but I digress…

Santa, You Stress Me Out!

I love the winter holidays. Cookies, snow, ho-ho-hoing, decorations galore, Christmas carols, presents under the tree… Well, you get the idea. I simply love the feeling of a warm house filled with laughter and the amazing smells from the oven that come with those last couple of weeks in December. It’s happiness and magic and childhood all wrapped into one. Except for one really important thing. Sometimes the cookies burn. Sometimes the fully decorated tree tips over. Sometimes the adults argue. The merry ho-ho-ho that we imagine for the holidays isn’t always quite so joyous. And that equates to one thing – none of us is perfect. The moment you try and make your holidays perfect is when things start to go awry. Which is why the Santa Stress-Ease just makes me chuckle and is a lifesaver. He’s adorable and jolly, yet the instant someone ticks you off, you can squeeze him and take out all of your aggression, which is a much better idea than whacking one of your guests with the platter that held the turkey! I’m giving you a heads up on this great promo item today so that you can order one now before the imperfect holiday season arrives.

Leaving My Mark

I like the simple things in life. I don’t need a night on the town at a fancy restaurant dressed in heels with a Coach purse in hand. Instead, I’m happy to order in a pizza and sit with my husband and kids in front of the fireplace for a cozy evening indoors. We like to gather together in the family room and read quietly, too. I encourage everyone to read, because when kids see adults engrossed in books, they are more inclined to pick up one, too. But you can’t enjoy a good read when you keep losing your page, so I recommend a stylish and sophisticated Alicia Klein bookmark. Now, every time you pick up your book, where you left off is nicely marked. These bookmarks make a lovely gift for children and students of all ages, and those adults who simply love to read. Slip a nice bookmark into a new book and give it to a child. You’ll be opening new worlds to a youngster through the gift of reading.

Low on Air? Gimmees Has Gauges!

This past weekend brought a strong winter storm across the northeastern US. Only problem was no one bothered to inform Mother Nature that she was off by more than a month in terms of snow, freezing rain, and ice. Heck, Mom Nature, it was the weekend BEFORE Halloween! A few days before howling winds and ice hit the East Coast friends of mine in Colorado informed us that they were expecting close to a foot of snow. And that, folks, is why I don’t live in beautiful, pristine Colorado! While I love snow, I’d like it when it’s expected – in January. Anyway, I don’t want you to be left out in the cold. In the past, I’ve experienced low tire pressure because of the sudden dip in temperatures in the fall months. Keep this tire air gauge with air release button in your car and you’ll never again worry that your tires are low on air. If one of the tires doesn’t seem like it is holding air properly, all you have to do is take out your gauge and check it. Low on air? Just head to your local service station and fill it back up.

A Blue Ribbon Award Winner

Every September, at the start of the school year, my twins begin their ritual of competition. No, it’s not to see who can solve the most math facts correctly or read the most chapter books and then lord it over his brother. My kids have their priorities in order. They get that competitive edge to see which one of them will be named Student of the Month for his class first. It’s a fight to the finish every single month and when one twin gets it and his brother doesn’t, you can imagine the chaos that goes on in our house. I use the old “Great job, honey” to the winner and “You’ll get it next month. There are plenty of months left in the school year” to the loser. This year, we didn’t need to wait long. Both boys came home on the final day of September beaming and holding his custom imprinted ribbon 2” x 8” with “Student of the Month” prominently displayed. YAY! We have two kids to celebrate in one month, and no fighting. However, I wonder. Does this give them leverage to have a free pass at misbehaving for the next 8 months of the school year?

Make No Mistake.... When You Use Gimmees' Erasers

If you have people in your household that are anything like those in mine, you can appreciate the term “comedy of errors.” You might also be able to better understand the kiddie concept of “do-overs.” We’re a family of four in our house, but we are very much prone to making mistakes and committing errors. But those mistakes of ours aren’t life or death in nature. We just have to do a lot of erasing around the kitchen table. From math homework and alphabetical order of the week’s spelling words to deleting items off the grocery store list and not getting the answer to fit correctly into the crossword puzzle, I’ve learned to really respect the lowly eraser. Believe me, I’ve
become a big fan! One of us is always in dire need of an eraser for corrective purposes. Plus, the eraser is so inexpensive when it comes to promotional desk and office supplies, that it pays to keep not one, but several, around the house. And that’s why do-overs really aren’t so difficult. A few sweeps with the eraser and it’s like that mistake never even existed.

The Rule Is You Must Have this Ruler

If there is one cool school must-have it’s the stencil ruler. My kids love this thing! First of all, it helps them with measurements when they have math homework. It’s a small enough ruler that it fits in any drawer, backpack, or in the bin where I keep pens, pencils, and a pair of scissors. Plus, it helps the kids to be a bit creative when the write their letters and numbers. I even let them use the number stencils for their math assignments. It makes doing homework that much easier, more fun, and with less complaining and whining. The stencil ruler is a great giveaway for schools or any organization that caters to children but adults will enjoy this product, too. Every now and then, I do have to draw a straight line and this ruler is always the first thing that I grab. So, if you’re an engineer or do crafts or are just a simple mother like me, you’ll like having this stencil ruler in your desk drawer, too.

Travel Light and Smell Nice with Gimmees!

An experienced traveler knows how to pack properly. There are a few key details to remember when packing to go on a trip: pack light with less clothing than you think you’ll need; bring along mini bottles of detergent to wash the basics like underwear and socks; limit the pairs of shoes you bring; and use travel-sized health and beauty aids. Personally, I’m not an experienced traveler. I don’t know how to pack properly. I’m not one to bring just two pairs of shoes along on an excursion. As for the travel size items for shampoo, body lotion, and the like, I am onboard with those things. I know the Transportation Security Administration has all different rules and regulations in place – no big bottles of liquid are going in my bag, that’s for sure! And to make my trips easy and convenient, and my bags less bulky, I opt for the travel bath and shower gel kit that Gimmees offers. It’s a small set that fits perfectly into my carry-on bag and the fragrances are light and enjoyable so I’m always fresh and clean whether I’m climbing the Great Wall of China or kicking back on a lounge chair in the Bahamas. Now, if only Gimmees could do something about those 17 pairs of shoes I plan to bring on the next trip….

Finally! Rest for the Weary Wrists!

If you use the computer a lot – and these days, who doesn’t – various parts of your body could indeed be suffering. I won’t even delve into the fact that today so many of us are overweight or morbidly obese because we’d rather play solitaire at our desks or on our laptops rather than go outside and shoot hoops or take a job. Okay, I guess I did delve into that! Computer use can also cause eyestrain and end up giving your cranium a headache unlike any other. But another body part that you might not think too much about or give any thought of concern to is the wrist. Those delicate yet sturdy blend of bones and joint and muscle enable us to drive cars, eat spaghetti, brush our teeth, and open the front door. Too much time at your laptop could be slowly destroying your precious wrists and they might not be getting the support they so desperately need. No worries though because the gel keyboard wrist rest is just what the physical therapist ordered – and none too soon either. You’re wrists will be in heaven with the support and comfort provided by this product.

It's a Numbers Thing

I have calculators all over my house. There’s one in the kitchen for when I write out bills. Another calculator is in the bedroom in case I need to double check my bank statements. A third calculator is in the home office for my husband to easily figure out his work-related expenses work-related expenses. Sometimes, I even carry a fourth calculator in my handbag for when I’m out running errands and need to tally up totals in the checkbook. But I spotted this compartment box calculator and I think I need a bunch of these! Not only is it a calculator, but it’s the perfect product for storing other things like paper clips, pens, pencils, or binder clips. The thing is, when you need a calculator, you usually need a pen or pencil, too. So, you waste time looking for one or the other. Yet this box can store your writing implements away for you so that they are on hand when you need them. Perfect! As you know from my prior posts, I love items that make my life simple and less hectic. And that’s exactly what this product does for me. I know it will be a great asset to your desk drawer, too.

A Cold Bottle of Water Is Just what I Needed

I’m a fan of fitness and have been for years. I find that working out makes me feel good, helps relieve stress, and improves my sleep at night. Plus, there’s nothing like taking out my frustration on my elliptical machine when I’ve been stuck inside on a cold February day with two kids who aren’t in school due to the blizzard raging outside. But to up the ante a little, I decided to join a gym, and I’m impressed with the beautiful swimming pool and array of classes that are offered as part of my membership. However, stupid me only brought the standard size bottle of water to class this morning – you know, that 16.9 ounce one. Big mistake! Not only am I not helping the environment any by bringing in a plastic bottle that will get a toss in the trashcan, but there wasn’t enough liquid to keep my bod hydrated. It’s time to bring in the big guns! Here comes my new best gym friend – the 26 ounce Santa Fe aluminum bottle. Enough fluids to get me through spinning class, no plastic bottle taste, and Mother Nature stays happy because there’s no waste. Everyone wins with this bottle!

Ah, My Aching Back... Aches No More

Have you ever met anyone who didn’t like getting their back rubbed? Me neither. In fact, I’m always ready and willing to be a guinea pig for anyone who has just graduated from masseuse school and needs someone to practice their new craft on. Hey, it’s what I do! I’m always looking for an opportunity to help out my fellow man or woman, as long as he or she has strong hands that can work out the knots in my back. In fact, I have even manipulated a way to get my kids into the act. Each night as I read to them before they get ready for bed, my son uses a massager to knead my spine. Call it child labor, call it bribery. I get a massage. The boys get time with Mommy. And that’s why I’m so happy to introduce the massage line of products from Gimmees, which include the Heart Shaped Massager. I like each of the massagers that Gimmees has and I’ve tried each of them, but I have to say that the Heart Shaped Massager is my personal favorite. Ahhhhhh! My back is all unkinked and feeling great once again.

Magnetize Your Business Opportunities, Maximize Your Potential

Just about every adult should have his or her own business cards. It doesn’t matter if you’re a dog walker, a registered nurse, or a CEO of a giant technology company. Trust me, you need business cards! Whether you’re at a business luncheon to talk shop or meeting friends for an impromptu get-together and are introduced to someone who could be a potential business lead, it’s imperative that you have business cards on hand. But what happens to that card once you press it into the hand of someone you view as a possible opportunity? Does it go into a business card holder? Get smashed into a pocket? Become the receptacle for a chewed up piece of gum? How many opportunities have been wasted because business cards were lost, misplaced, or accidentally tossed into the trash? There’s definitely no answer to that, but don’t risk a chance of making a great contact or increasing revenues at your company. Instead of standard cards, distribute full color magnetic business cards. The real question is can you afford not to?

Is that a Monkey on My Back? No, It's My Backpack

My thoughts have turned towards backpacks lately, and not for the reason you might suspect. Sure, the kids are getting ready to head back to school (actually, some have already returned to the classroom), but that doesn’t mean that backpacks are strictly for the youngster set. In fact, I consider myself a fan of them. But aren’t backpacks for transporting books to classrooms for those in grades between kindergarten and college? Not so! Backpacks are wonderful because they can be jammed with all sorts of stuff, yet keep the weight off of your arms and ensure that your hands are free – which is great when you’re in a large amusement park with a set of twin boys in tow. The point is, you can keep all of your important stuff – wallet, medication, bottled water, sunglasses, extra clothing, and cell phone – safely on your back and still be able to maneuver through crowds and hold your child’s hand. Gimmees has a lot of different promotional backpacks to pick from to meet all of your needs including Daytripper backpacks, High Sierra Impact Daypacks, and Ripstop Computer Sling Bags. Anyway, like I said, I am a backpack lover. And, I’d like to give a big thank you to the late Asher “Dick” Kelty, who is credited with creating lightweight backpacks.

Smokin' Hot Yet Downright Cool

I’m a big fan of t-shirts. I think they look nice with a pair of jeans, come in various colors, and are a perfect complement to any wardrobe for various ages. I love t-shirts so much that I now own several sets of t-shirt sheets for my bed, so that I can feel comfy in comfort and softness whenever I lie down for some shut eye. But enough about my bed sheets. The newest feature in the basic t-shirt is this thing called “wicking.” No, wicking has nothing to do with a candle wick. Instead, it keeps sweat and moisture away from you – while you are wearing the shirt – and that equates to you, the wearer, staying cooler, drier, and – dare I say it – less stinky and smelly. If you are less damp and your body is cooler, that means you’ll feel better even if you are taking a jog on a humid, 90+ degree day. Cooler? Drier? Less smell? I’m sold! Here are some options for you: JERZEES Moisture Management Shirt, Sport-Tek Dry Zone Short Sleeve Raglan T-shirt, and the Sport-Tek Short Sleeve Compression T-shirt. Even if I am not personally wearing these tees, I’ll be so much happier when I have to wash the dirty laundry.

The Writing Is on the Wall --- Just Read the Sign

Do you have something you want or need to say? Does your company have a message that it has to promote to the community? Maybe the local team wants to drum up more fans and more sponsors for the football season. Whatever your message is, you need to make sure that it’s getting noticed by the public. Whether it is a yard sale, a mattress sale, a new restaurant opening up in town or a contest, you need to have a sign promoting your message. And Gimmees can help you with this! Give us your message and we’ll get it printed up on any one of the signs in our online catalog. We’ve got rally signs, yard signs, and hand fans. Any one of these can be customized the way you like, and we’re waiting to answer your questions. So, put your message on a sign and put it out there! You’ll get more business and more business equates to more money. It’s funny how something as simple and inexpensive as a sign can mean more opportunities for you. Don’t wait. Give us your words. We’ve got your sign!

My Notes Just Sparkle wtih Creativity!

Red. Black. Blue. You’re probably thinking that I’ll be writing about bruises, right? Wrong! These are just the typical colors of pens that you’ll find in any given desk in any given cubicle at any given company. And could writing notes or jotting down your thoughts or brainstorming in a meeting be any more boring? Why not add some jazz, some pizzazz to your work or musings? Sure, you might need to wear heels or a dress pants to the office, but color and sparkle should be included within your repertoire every single day and at all costs. And that’s why I’m a fanatic when it comes to cool pens in a rainbow of colors. Take the USA Gel Pen Metallic and Neon Pens for example. You can do a crossword puzzle in purple, sign off on your daughter’s homework in hot pink, and write out your grocery list in lime green. Oh, and don’t leave these pens lying around at home so that your kids swipe them. Bring them to the office to bring color and fun to your 9 to 5 day.

Everyone Needs a Little Cushioning

The last thing you need after a long baseball game – besides a long walk to the car without a cold bottle of water – is a sore behind. Now, hear me out. I know what I’m talking about. I’ve sat through many a minor league ballgame or my son’s Little League game sitting on hard, unforgiving metal bleachers. And while I love to cheer for my kiddo’s team, I don’t at all like the stiff backbone and bruised rear end that comes along with it after about two and half hours. I don’t want you to suffer this fate, so I’m pointing out the importance of having a stadium cushion in your repertoire of necessary game goods. It’s slim, easy to carry, and fits neatly in the trunk of your car or even under the passenger seat. Want a cushion that folds up nicely? Then, let me show you another example – our wrap it up seat cushion. And these are just two that are in our collection. Keep in mind that you might have to suffer through endless scoreless innings, but your butt and your back will be in fine shape, which will make you much happier as you navigate through that line of traffic out of the parking lot.

Hot Fun in the Summertime

If there is one thing that I have learned, you can’t just jump in your car and drive to the beach without a little bit of prep work involved. What will you sit on? Did you remember the sunscreen? Have you got something to drink? While you might need to prepare for a beach trip, Gimmees is comprised of people who love the sun and sand as much as the rest of us, and they have all the necessary (and critical!) items to make your day by the waves fun and sunburn-free. Here’s what they got for you:

Straw beach mat – so that you can spread out and catch the rays.
2 oz. SPF 30 sunscreen spray – to keep your epidermis from getting red and burnt.
Sunglasses – this style will make you happy to protect your eyes from the harsh light.
12 oz. bottle of natural spring water – stay refreshed even in the heat.
Day trip beach bag – for all of your goods to stay safely in one place.
Sun walker sandals – avoid burning the bottoms of your tootsies with these.
12” beach ball – do we really need to explain?

Bye-bye Booboos

Summer is the time for fun outside, spending lazy days by the pool, riding bikes, and playing pickup games of baseball. It’s the season for picking fresh produce at local farms, gathering fireflies in glass jars, and roller skating outside on the pavement. But when the mosquitoes bite, that glass jar shatters, and your kid skins his knee after a fall from his bike or topples over from a roller skating stunt, you better be prepared for battle. Make sure you have an outdoor first aid kit handy for those bug bites, scrapes, bruises, and minor cuts. Another good product to have on hand is the sports injury first aid kit which contains a cold pack for bumps and swelling, along with other must-haves like bandages and antiseptic towelettes to take care of those minor injuries that bleed. I recommend that you keep one of these kits in your tote bag, another in your car’s glove compartment, and one in each of your medicine cabinets. I keep a first aid kit in my kitchen, too. It’s easier for me to grab when a little one falls on the pavement outside then to have to bolt upstairs and look for one in the medicine cabinet. I can bandage up the booboo and the kids are back to playing in no time.

Thirst No More for the Truth -- Drink Mix Is What You Need

Do you drink eight glasses of water daily? I sure don’t, which probably explains why I often feel sluggish and sleepy. Not to mention the headaches that come on suddenly. My husband swears it’s because I don’t drink enough water. I like water, but it bores me after a little while. Sometimes I’ll add sliced fresh lemon or lime to my glass but even that gets a bit passé after a few glasses. I know I need to sip more, but I hate to drink my calories – unless it’s a margarita, which is another story entirely – and that’s why I need to share this great tidbit with you: ToGo sugar free drink mix. It comes in three yummy flavors: iced tea, fruit punch, and lemonade. It’s portable, meaning you can stash it in your purse, gym bag, glove compartment or pocket, and add it to a 16 ounce glass or bottle of water. You can add your corporate name, identity, and Web address, too. Might I also make another recommendation? Pair this drink mix with the 16.9 ounce bottled natural spring water with sports cap and you will have a winning combination that fights thirst and keeps the rest of us hydrated.

Drinking Coffee for a Cause

Who doesn’t love a cup of coffee or another hot beverage first thing in the morning? Who doesn’t love to support a great cause like the fight against breast cancer? Now, you can do both – have your coffee and support the breast cancer campaign – with cup for a cause. This lovely 14 ounce cup holds your hottest beverages and prominently displays your message. Wrapped around the cup is a pink silicone bracelet with the words “Hope Courage Care Support” imprinted upon it. Did I mention that the cup is also biodegradable? While you are gulping down java and wearing your bracelet with pride, you’ll also be reusing this nice cup and it won’t add a large carbon footprint to the environment. The cup is white and the bracelet is pink so it’s a noticeable way to bring attention to the fight against a horrible disease that has affected all of us in some way. Breast cancer has a special place in my heart as my mom and my grandmothers all had it, so you can be sure I’ve got my grimy fingers on one of these. Way to go, Gimmees for bringing this cup to my attention!

Tame Your Thirst and Avoid Sunburn with Our Beach Bottle

Sunshine. Hot weather. Good friends. Great times. I don’t need to tell you that it’s not winter that we’re discussing. It’s summertime! And I’m pretty sure that like me, you’ll be busily heading off to baseball games, the beach, parks, backyard barbecues, firework displays, and well, you get the idea. You’ll be out and about, heading here and there and everywhere. While you’re on the move, you can’t go empty-handed. You’ll need ice water to stay hydrated, sunscreen to prevent sunburn, and shades to protect your eyes. But, what’s this? Gimmees is a step ahead of you with its beach bottle. It contains a water bottle that can be filled with your favorite cold beverage, a pair of sunglasses, a small bottle of sunscreen, and an aloe vera packet to soothe sunburn. You simply fill up your bottle with ice and water and go – everything you’ll need for a day out in the sun is right there at your convenience. Don’t go anyplace this summer without this beach bottle! It’s the greatest thing to happen to summertime since, well, the sun.

Koozies Keep Me Kool (Well, Not Me Personally, but my Drinks)

Here it is, nearly mid-June already and people are consuming more beverages because the weather is heating up quickly. It’s nearly summer. What’s more refreshing than an icy cold beverage to quench your thirst on a hot day? I start to think of all sorts of icy refreshments: lemonade, home-brewed iced tea, diet Dr. Pepper, cold beer, iced coffee. Finding something yummy to sip on is easy. Keeping my beverage the way I like it – ice cold – well, that’s another story. But wait, what’s this? Gimmees has a whole bunch of koozies in various sizes and types to make sure my drinks stay cold and that, in turn, helps me to stay happy. There are koozie bottle coolers, collapsible koozies for my canned drinks, and a lot more in different styles. Not only should you stock up on these koozies so that your next party or outdoor picnic is ready for beer, wine, and soda for those thirsty guests, but get your party-goers some koozies, too. Gimmees will add your logo or corporate brand to those koozies for maximum marketing power. Makes you want to grab a cold one now, doesn’t it?

Everything Your Pet Needs Is at Gimmees!

People love to treat their pets like children. Today’s pets are no longer simply “pets.” They are members of the family and are treated as such. Pets are lovable, cute, fluffy, and they really do enrich our lives. Studies have shown that simply stroking a dog or cat for five minutes a day can significantly lower your blood pressure – I have no idea if this works the same way when stroking an iguana or pet snake. Domestic animals are a huge business, and people will spend countless dollars to keep their pets happy, well-fed, and looking beautiful – no matter what the economic conditions are or how little cash they have in their wallets. Gimmees loves pets, and you’ll love Gimmees when you see the various pet-friendly products that we offer for you to customize with whatever logo, slogan, or phrase you want to. Here’s a small sampling of what we have ready for customization: medium pet bowls, pet food scoops, pet accessory bags, and retractable dog leashes. Got lots of clients who love their cats and dogs? Is your business centered on pet grooming, boarding, or doggie daycare? Are you a veterinarian? If you answered yes to any of these questions, stop on over at Gimmees’ pet page for all the details on customized pet-oriented products.

Do I Need an Umbrella? I'll Ask My Weather Station!

The weather is something I really never gave much thought to, except to turn on the news via radio or TV to find out how I needed to dress for the day – umbrellas, anyone? But my 8-year-old son recently became very interested in the weather and meteorology. In fact, he watches the Weather Channel more in one week than I have in my entire lifetime because he’s so intrigued by tornadoes, fast moving storms, various fronts, and hurricanes. For Christmas, Santa Claus brought him a wireless weather station. The station’s base is conveniently kept in the kitchen while the thermometer is posted beneath our deck, away from the harsh elements of sun, rain, and snow. Now, we are constantly aware of the temperatures both inside and out, the barometer, and how we need to dress for the day. While this nifty gadget was a gift for my son, I find myself consulting it daily to see what the heavens will bring. So far, the weather station hasn’t failed us. When it displays rain, we know a shower is due in. It’s almost magical to us non-scientific persons, but I suppose meteorologists are magicians in a sense anyway. Most of their work is based on prediction.

Don't Supersize Me, Just Sanitize Me

I’ve sung the praises of hand sanitizer in the past via this blog, but I don’t think I’ve really appreciated its benefits and convenience fully. That is, until yesterday. I was at a Nascar race and realized that I had no other alternative but to use a Port-a-Potty. Anyone who knows me would instantly realize that I was suffering greatly and that this was really an emergency if I had to stoop to a gross outhouse. Plus, there is no option for hand washing – and I’m all about soap and water and a clean hand towel. But luckily, I remembered my hand sanitizer wipes and hand sanitizer gel – both of which came in extremely handy. Each time our group finished using the “facilities,” I whipped out my sanitizers and doled out the goods to everyone. As a mom, I’m a fan of keeping germs at bay. As a woman who considers no air conditioning “roughing it,” I’m not a fan of outdoor toilets. And as someone who just wanted to enjoy a great race with her loved ones, I’m a huge fan of sanitizing products. With Gimmees and the vast options in hand cleaning, you can take a victory lap on any given day!

Medicine Cabinet Must-Haves

There have been many times when I’ve seen a promotional item or gadget and smacked my head thinking, “I sure wish I’d thought of that!” Here’s a great example – recently, I went to fill a prescription for my son who had a vicious ear infection. The pharmacy tech handed me the medication, which came in a liquid, along with a handy medicine spoon. “Just so you can measure out the right amount easily,” she explained. I can’t even begin to tell you how wonderful this little spoon is! I pour out the medicine and it clearly shows me the right amount. And there are similar items out there that I have since discovered I need to keep in my medicine cabinet: the Take ‘N Go medicine spoon for when we hit the road for vacation or a weekend getaway and the forehead thermometer kit to take a temperature easily at any time of day or night. The really great thing about these items is that adults can use them, too. Plus, they pack up nicely in a travel kit. I recommend all health companies consider giving out these promotional items – they are inexpensive yet could be a lifesaver for a parent.

This Little Light of Mine.... I'm Sure as Heck Gonna Make it Shine

A gadget that everyone should have is the solar safety key light. It’s compact, discreet, inexpensive, and yet could end up saving your life. Attach it to your key ring or belt loop and you can shine on even in the darkest of alleyways. Not that us here at Gimmees thinks you’re visiting alleys fairly often or anything. But the key light shines really bright in a dark parking lot – when you are pushing your shopping cart towards your car – and when you are out taking a walk long after the sun sets. You might not think you need any safety product in that parking lot or on that dimly lit street, but lighting your path up just a bit can prevent you from tripping over something in the road or keep you out of the hands of a predator. Every one of your key rings should be equipped with this little light. So, shine on, people, shine on!

You're Gonna Love This

In the fourth grade, I finally got to use pens for my schoolwork. Except for math, my class was allowed to use erasable pens for every other subject. I swore I’d never again use a pencil unless it was for some sort of math problem that required solving. But in doing crossword puzzles, I hate when I make a mistake with a pen. Wite-Out just doesn’t do it for me – too goopy and messy and it never seems to dry. So, I realized I must return to the sad, measly old pencil. But, what’s this? Gimmees has something far better than the standard yellow stick that seems to forever need sharpening. It’s the Kool Klick Mechanical Pencil. I love it because it’s sophisticated-looking, never needs a sharpener, and like the name says, is really fun to click. And it slips neatly onto my crossword puzzle book – so convenient! So, when you need a pencil, don’t look for the lowly yellow wood stick that you used in the second grade. Choose one of these goodies from Gimmees. It’s click-tastic!

I'm Going to Walk this Way

I’m a power walker. If I’m visiting my parents’ beach house, on a trip with my husband, or just at home, there’s nothing like grabbing my sneakers and iPod and dashing out for a long walk. I’ve trekked the beaches of New Jersey and Nags Head on hot August nights and prowled unshoveled sidewalks in my neighborhood during blizzards. A walk clears my head and allows me freedom. It’s exercise, relaxation, and my favorite music all wrapped into 40-minutes of “me time.” But sometimes I need to bring along cash, my ID, a cell phone, and a house key. Those things can weigh me down, especially when they are loading up my pockets. I hate that! But Gimmees keeps me enjoying my walk and feeling free as a breeze with the shoe wallet. I love, love, love this thing! It’s the best! All of my important stuff is kept safely in one location – that isn’t my pocket – and it’s easily reachable. Plus, it latches to my sneaker so it’s not cumbersome or in my way when those arms are swinging and the legs are moving fast.

Turn It Up

Music evokes so many moods. It can calm and soothe, give an energy boost, or even make you feel happy. Certain songs might help us reminisce about a particular event or time period or it can encourage our spirits, making us feel empowered. I’ve noticed that during the day, I like my music to have purpose – vivid and strong-willed to keep me energized. In the evening hours, when I need to bring my body down a few degrees, I stick with more low-toned tunes – stuff that adds a bit of calm to the ending day. And I like the fact that Gimmees has Tag Along MP3 Speakers because this product works with my iPod and enables me to enjoy my favorite songs whether I’m at home or not. I can take my music with me and share it with others. Plus, this little gadget folds up neatly so that it doesn’t take up much space when I need to stash it in a drawer or toss it in my tote bag. It’s a great item to customize with your logo and you know it’s something that everyone can use.

A Handy Promo Item for Various Tasks

I once received a screwdriver with a regular blade/Phillips blade and thought it was an unusual promotional item for a company to distribute. However, over the years, I’ve used that screwdriver more times than I can count and for a variety of tasks. Yes, it’s come in handy when I needed to install a new battery in my laptop, which is, I imagine, what it is intended for. But I’ve also used that screwdriver for such things as removing tiny screws from my kids’ toys, my shower radio, and various remotes so that I could add fresh batteries. It’s great for popping open devices that aren’t fingernail friendly. And this is going to sound really crazy – I’ve carried it in my pocket late at night when I’ve been out alone because it’s sharp and could be used as a weapon if necessary (thankfully, I’ve never had to use it for this purpose). So, although I found the screwdriver an odd gift when I received it, I’ve had it for more than 15 years and I’ve used it ever since. And that’s what a good promotional item is all about – something that will be used for years to come.

A Favor Not Soon Forgotten

The calendar still says March, but my brain has become focused on the summer months, which lie in the not too distant future. I’m thinking about get-togethers on back decks, lazy days poolside, and afternoons spent on sun-kissed beaches. Any occasion can be made even more special with something customized from Gimmees. At your next pool party, you can give your guests something to remember that summertime event: shot glasses for the adults and mood sports bottles for the kids. A get-together with friends at a rented beach house just screams for Nite-glo stadium cups. Maybe you’re planning a surprise 40th birthday party, a bachelor party, or are having friends over for a Memorial Day barbecue. Visit Gimmees and customize some drinkware for the guests. It is sure to be a celebration that your guests and you will never forget. We have a whole catalog full of items in a price range that won’t break the bank. Planning ahead lets Gimmees do all the work for a party favor that never goes out of style.

Sleep Rules.... when You Can Get It

A splash of cold water on the face and a large cup of coffee in the morning are no substitutes for a good night’s sleep. But ask just about anyone and they aren’t getting the restful slumber that they require for good health – stress, discomfort, loud noises, medications, too much caffeine during the daytime, and overstimulation are all causes of disturbed sleep. If you’re thinking about a new promotional item to add to your insignia, logo, or company name to, I highly recommend the Essentials Comfort Set from Gimmees, which includes a hot water bottle and a sleep mask. It lets your recipients know that you truly care about their health and well-being. You’ll know that this is a product that they will definitely use whether while traveling or in the comfort of their own bedrooms. And while you are doling these out to all of your favorite customers, employees, and other contacts, make sure you send me one. I can always use a good night’s sleep. Yawn.

I Heart the Environment, so Take this Promo Item as a Symbol of that Love

This March 26, at 8:30 PM local time, people worldwide will turn off their lights to celebrate the environment and think about the sobering results of climate change. Perhaps an hour later, when you switch your lights back on, you’ll think about all of the little things that can be done on a daily basis to be nicer to our environment: lowering the thermostat on winter days or when you leave your home; driving less and biking more; using energy efficient light bulbs; insulating around your windows and doors; and eating locally grown produce. Here’s something you can do right now – choose one of Gimmees’ eco-friendly products from our catalog, add your logo to it, and distribute the items at your next corporate event, tradeshow, or simply hand them out to all of your customers. A simple item that is made of recycled materials and will fit your budget is the retread circle jar opener. Another goodie is the ecosafe click pen, which is made from 100% biodegradable and compostable material. Not only do you get to promote your business, but you will show that you are a friend to the environment. Two great messages all wrapped in one neat package!

Need a Light? Crank It Up!

All it takes is a bad windstorm followed by a power failure for you to realize two very critical things. One, you can’t find a working flashlight and two, your cell phone is completely dead. Not good! You can’t call for help should you need to, and there’s no way that you can listen to the radio for weather reports nor can you find your way through your home. Which leads me to my point – the Quad Crank Light is an amazing tool and a fantastic gift to give to your employees and clients. What makes this little silver dynamo so stupendous? A little turning of the handle is all it takes to give you a flashlight, a radio, an alarm, and a charger for your cell phone. Really, this is a promotional item that can truly be a lifesaver and it’s perfect for any demographic: families, college students, and the elderly, as well as for just about any industry: automotive, schools, and companies of any size. If you want to give a promo item that really speaks to the needs of the masses, you have it in this Quad Crank Light.

My Hands Are Feeling Hot, Hot, Hot!

It’s been a cold winter and no matter where you live in the country, you can probably attest to that! Even the warmest of states – let’s all give a shout out to Florida, people! – have had to whip out their ear muffs and scarves this winter. One thing I love to do when I’m chilled is to head into my kitchen and warm my hands under tepid, running water. For some reason, I find it comforting and refreshing. If my hands are warmed up, my whole body feels better. I think that’s the reasoning behind custom imprinted Hand Warmers, which fit into your coat or sweatshirt pockets, and can zip that coldness away from your 10 digits quickly. These warmers can even reach temperatures of up to 144 degrees! That sounds like heaven for your fingertips when you’re freezing your butt off at your son’s ice hockey game or when you are taking the pooch for a walk in the early morning – albeit frigid – hours. And you know what else rocks about these cozy bundles of joy? They are promotional products! You can add your corporate logo and web address to them so that your customers know who is keeping their thumbs toasty on the bitterest of winter days.

Get Yourself a Coaster Before You Set Down Your Beer Mug

How hard is it for people who visit me to use a coaster? I love having company, but if you have an icy cold drink with rivers of condensation flowing down your glass, please by all means, indulge me by using a coaster. I’ve got these great Light Up Coasters, which when you set down your glass, they illuminate with flashes of red and blue. This is perfect for when you’ve had one too many and can’t figure out where you set down your beer bottle. But really, I’m a little bit of a nut when people don’t use coasters because I worry that their ice-swooning beverage is going to wreak havoc on my coffee table. Pay no mind that my one son has used said coffee table as a ring for matches between his wrestlers or that my other son sees nothing wrong with tossing the remote control on it. I really should practice what I preach though because I just noticed that my coffee mug from this morning left a nice ring on the coffee table. Shhhh! Don’t tell anyone. It will be our little secret.

Gotta Tissue Handy? Gimmees Does!

Ah, what would winter be without cold and flu season? These two lovely illnesses just lie in wait for us, until they know when our immune systems have weakened, and then they dig their hideous claws into our bodies, making us miserable and cranky. Feverish and achy, we crawl into bed for comfort, only to feel more icky, clammy, and hideous than a swamp creature. During this wintry mix of various cold viruses and influenza making their rounds, give the one promotional item that every person you know will need – a tissue dispenser with super soft tissues. This little product is perfect to stick in a desk at the office and to toss into a purse or glove compartment. And while no one wants to ever fathom coming down with a bug, we’ve all had the pleasure of being sick with a sniffle or two, so it’s truly the promotional item that will get used by everyone you hand it to. While you are doling out goodies for the sick and feverish, why not pair the tissue dispenser with the Illusion Series Pill Box and direct your customers to keep some vitamin C handy?

Picture Yourself in a Digital Frame

People have collected framed pictures of their kids since the beginning of time. Well, maybe not since the actual beginning of time, but at least since modern photography was invented and became reasonably priced. There’s no doubt you have visited an office or home and seen multiple framed photos of kids, the family pet, vacations in the tropics, the family boat, etc. But sometimes it gets a bit out of hand when everywhere you look, your eye is drawn to yet another scene of little Alexander in every photogenic moment of his young life. Instead of cluttering up the home or office with dozens of framed pictures, choose from Gimmees’ selection of digital photo frames as a giveaway or promotional item. There are a number of offerings here from the Photo Gallery Digital Photo Frame to the Pocket Digital Photo Frame to the 1.5” Digital Photo Frame Ornament. Each of these dynamos holds a large number of digital pictures so that no one ever gets bored looking at the same scene. And with your logo or company name on the item, you know you’ll be long remembered for this wonderful gift.

Gearing Up Your Computer with Lots of Goodies

I never imagined that I’d ever spend so many hours per day on a computer, let alone even own one. During my college years, only the rich kids had their own computers – and my father, but he was a corporate executive. Most of my term papers were typed on a friend’s word processor or at the university computer lab, after I waited in line to get an available terminal. Now, my life is more technical and four laptops are part of our home life. And it’s not just the computers themselves. There are all sorts of devices that go with them: a Blu-Screen Clean computer brush, USB 2.0 flash drives, wireless mice, a wireless Internet detector, and rubber backed mouse pads. I never thought that I’d have so many uses for a computer nor did I think that my desk would be cluttered with all of the things that I need to be technologically advanced. Fortunately, I can shop without ever leaving my house and find information without ever stepping foot into a library. And I can work while I’m in my pajamas parked on my couch. Ah, computers. What would I do without my trusty laptop?

I Resolve... to Stick to My 2011 Resolutions with Gimmees

The books have closed on another year and it’s time to start off 2011 with a fresh slate. What will your resolution be? Will you organize your kitchen cabinet? Drink more water? Lose 10 pounds? Spend more time with family and loved ones? Resolutions are wonderful, but it’s easy to see why after a week or two most get abandoned. People make resolutions with the best of intentions but setting your goals too high can set you up for failure. Start with a tiny hill to get over before you put on your hiking boots to get over the mountain. Instead of heading out the door to run a marathon, start small. Get a jump rope and a yoga mat to start your resolution off right. Try a pilates class. Go for a swim at an indoor pool with a new pair of porpoise swim goggles. Take your pooch for a few laps around the block. Take baby steps to get yourself going and within a few weeks, you may find that you have stuck to that New Year’s resolution – long after most people have bailed.
