Soaking Up Rays... Just Lube Up First
Don’t even step one of your toes onto a beach this August unless you are slathered in sunscreen, wearing a hat, sunglasses, body armor, and in a plastic bubble. Okay, okay, you don’t have to go that far. But sun worshippers beware. The harmful rays from that hot, solar blob in the sky can not only weather your skin to an unpleasant leathery condition, but it can also be hazardous to your health. More and more young people are diagnosed with skin cancer every year – and most of the time this horrible disease is entirely preventable. Use a sunscreen with a decent amount of SPF, limit your exposure to the sun during the most intense hours during the day (usually between 9 AM and 3 PM), and wear clothing and sunglasses to protect your precious skin and eyes. Make sure you’re always ready for the sun by keeping sunscreen on hand in your glove compartment, gym bag, purse, diaper bag, or briefcase. And you don’t need a gigantic bottle either – just grab our 2 oz SPF 30 sunscreen spray or a few Coast sunscreen packets to lather up. Remember, use about a shot glass worth of sunscreen for one body application and reapply it every two hours. See, you can have your sun and worship it, too.
